Updated 7 Nov 2026: every feature and price below was checked on the vendor's own site that day.
An AI LMS is a learning management system that uses AI to write courses, answer learners' questions, run practice conversations, tag skills or act as an agent for admins. We opened the AI and pricing pages of 12 of them: all 12 have an AI assistant, but only 6 offer AI roleplay, and only 360Learning and Docebo name a feature in all six AI categories.
What is an AI LMS?
A learning management system (LMS) is the software a company or school uses to deliver courses, track completions and run assessments. Training Industry defines it as a computer-based system training organisations use to log and oversee their training activity.
An AI LMS adds AI on top of those jobs. In 2026 the vendors we checked use AI in six ways:
- Authoring: turn a PDF, slide deck or prompt into a course and quiz.
- Tutor or assistant: a chat box that answers learners' questions from the course content.
- Roleplay: the learner talks or types to an AI customer, buyer or colleague and gets scored.
- Skills: AI tags content and people with skills and recommends what to learn next.
- Translation: one course, many languages, without a translation agency.
- Agents: AI that does admin work inside the LMS, such as building learning paths or reports.
Most "AI LMS" claims are about the first two. Roleplay, skills and agents are where platforms really differ, so that is what to test in a demo.

A cell shows the feature name the vendor uses on its own AI page, opened 7 Nov 2026. A dash means we found no such feature on the vendor's site, not that it can never exist.
Three things stand out. Authoring and an assistant are now table stakes: 11 of 12 platforms name an authoring feature and all 12 name an assistant. Roleplay is the split: 360Learning, TalentLMS, EducateMe, Litmos, Docebo and Cornerstone have it, in forms that range from a text drill to a VR scene to a voice call. Agents are new: 6 platforms now advertise agents, several of them through MCP, the protocol that lets AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT connect to other software.
Prices, and how AI is charged
The sticker price is only half the story, because AI often costs extra. Here is what each pricing page said on 7 Nov 2026.
| Platform | Published price (as written) | How AI is charged | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 360Learning | Team $8 per user/month, up to 100 users, billed monthly; Business and Enterprise custom | "All plans include our AI-powered LMS"; features are not mapped to plans | Teams under 100 that want every AI feature type on a monthly plan |

Each name links to the pricing page we opened on 7 Nov 2026. US dollars, before tax.
Two pricing patterns matter when you compare quotes:
- Credits or caps. TalentLMS Core includes 5,000 AI credits once; Grow includes 10,000 a month (pricing). EducateMe caps voice roleplay at 10, 40 or 200 sessions a month by plan, with packs of 50 for $175 (pricing).
- Add-ons. Docebo says its AI assistant and content creation "remain included", while AI credits, Agents, Roleplay and Skills Intelligence are add-ons (Docebo AI). Disco is the opposite: "AI is included in every Disco plan, with no credits to buy or track" (pricing).
Worked example: 40 learners
What does year one cost for a 40-person team at list price? These numbers come from the same price file as the shortlist tool below.
| Platform | Year one, 40 learners | Per learner | How we got it |
|---|---|---|---|
| TalentLMS | $1,428 | $35.7 | Core, 1–40 users band, $119 × 12 (monthly billing) |
| EducateMe | $2,868 | $71.7 | Pro, 80 users included, $239 × 12 (monthly billing) |
| 360Learning | $3,840 | $96 | Team plan: $8 × 40 active users × 12 months |
| Disco | $4,788 | $119.7 | Create, 250 active members, $399 × 12 (annual billing) |
| iSpring LMS | $8,286 | $207.15 | Business, 100-user tier (smallest published) |
| Tough Tongue AI (our product, practice only) | $11,988 | — | Momentum plan (50 seats), 30 practice min per learner a month |
TalentLMS is cheapest at this size, but its Core plan has the one-time credit pot, so heavy AI use pushes you to Grow at $229 a month. iSpring's smallest published tier is 100 users, so a 40-person team pays the 100-user price. Tough Tongue AI is not an LMS; it is a voice practice layer priced by minutes, shown for comparison if roleplay is the feature you care about.

Best AI LMS for each kind of team
- Under 100 learners, all AI types: 360Learning. The Team plan is $8 per active user a month, monthly, with a 30-day trial, and the AI page lists authoring, AI Companion, AI Roleplay, skills tagging, translation and an agent with an MCP server (AI page).
- Cheapest start: TalentLMS. Free for 5 users and 10 courses, Core from $119 a month (1–40 users band), with TalentCraft for AI course building (pricing).
- Voice roleplay built in: EducateMe. Its AI Roleplay Coach runs voice and chat practice; Pro is $239 a month for 80 users with 10 voice sessions included (pricing).
- 100–500 learners on a budget: iSpring LMS. $6.91 per user a month at 100 users, falling to $3.97 at 500 (pricing).
- Large enterprise, modular AI: Docebo. Every AI category is covered, but Roleplay, Agents and Skills are paid add-ons and the price is quote-only.
- Skills-based talent strategy: Cornerstone Galaxy. Its Skills Engine infers skills in real time using labour-market data (Galaxy AI).
- An AI tutor first: Sana Learn. Sana, now part of Workday, centres its LMS on an AI Tutor and says it works with any HR system (Sana Learn).
AI LMS for schools and universities
Academic LMS platforms are adding AI too, but access depends on your institution's tier.
| LMS | AI features (vendor names) | Price and AI access |
|---|---|---|
| Moodle LMS | AI subsystem (since 4.5): generate text and images in the editor, summarise and explain course content | Open source; AI needs your own provider (OpenAI, Azure AI or a self-hosted Ollama model), billed by that provider |
| Canvas (Instructure) | IgniteAI: discussion summaries, translations, quiz question help, rubric generator, grading assistance, Agent, Study Tools | Tiered: some IgniteAI tools in Canvas Core, teaching tools need Canvas Plus, Agent and Study Tools need Canvas Next; prices via account team |
| D2L Brightspace | D2L Lumi: outcomes mapping, study support after quizzes, content from existing files, module summaries | Not published; Lumi is listed under Brightspace add-ons |
| Blackboard (Anthology) | AI Design Assistant, AI Conversation (Socratic or role-play persona), AVA virtual assistant | "These AI capabilities are included as standard"; LMS price not published |
Moodle is the outlier: the AI subsystem is in core, but it needs your own provider account, such as a paid OpenAI API key or a self-hosted model (Moodle docs). On the time it saves, Dr. Steven Montagu-Cairns, Associate Professor in Law at the University of Leeds, says: "AI Design Assistant has taken a task which might have taken me a full day down to a few minutes."
Why practice is the feature to test
AI that writes courses faster does not, on its own, change what people can do at work. In a 2026 vendor survey for Docebo of 2,000 people in six countries, "85% of employees say the training they receive does not help them use AI in their role", while 79% of learning leaders already use AI for content, assessments and recommendations. Only 9% said AI had fully redefined their workflows.
The gap is practice. A sales rep, support agent or new manager learns a hard conversation by having it, getting feedback and having it again. That is why roleplay is the AI feature to test hardest in a demo:
- Can a learner speak, not just type, to the AI character?
- Does the AI push back with a realistic objection?
- Is every session scored against a rubric you can edit?
- Are sessions capped, metered or sold as an add-on?
- Can scores flow back into the LMS or your CRM?
If your LMS passes on everything else but fails here, you don't have to switch. A practice layer such as Tough Tongue AI (our product) runs voice roleplays and scores every session next to the LMS you already have; its free plan includes 25 minutes. See AI roleplay vs classroom training for the evidence, and the sales roleplay scoring rubric template to build the scorecard.
How we picked and checked
We started from the platforms that appear when buyers search for an AI LMS, then kept those with an AI page of their own. On 7 Nov 2026 we opened each vendor's AI feature page and pricing page and wrote down feature names and prices exactly as shown. We did not use review sites for prices or features, and we gave no star ratings. Where a vendor's own pages disagree with each other, we say so.
Tough Tongue AI is our product. It is listed as a practice layer, not as an LMS, and it does not rank against the LMS platforms.
